Thursday

how was your day, she said
well, it is Thursday, you know, I said.

people finish their jobs earlier, some fly home
some stay and get drunk, some mingle in the pubs

by the way, statistically more children
are being conceived on Thursdays

she looked at me, and smiled
let’s go, she said, let’s go to the next grocery

get us some beer and some olives
we will drink our beer and listen to some mellow rock

we will lay naked in our bed,
covered with the shades of an apple-tree in our backyard

and the evening breeze will caress our bare bodies
the smell of jasmine will mix with a smell
of your hair

the stars will be our illumination
and we will conceive another child
